For Luke

Well thus far in the short history of the "Breeze", I have not done well at updating.  I promise as the autumn progresses I will get better.  Amazingly, there are fans out there of this blog.  Namely, one sad and lonely Luke who reminds me weekly I haven't updated.  So I will dedicate this quick blog update to him.

Luke is my friend from good ol' Mendota IL.  He wasn't born there, which is obvious if you know him.   Back in '89 he graced Mendota with his presence, as him and his family moved from the Peoria area to the World's Greatest.  From the earliest days, Luke was known as a ladies man.  Pickin' up chicks on the playground to kissing 'em at the middle school dances, that was his trademark.  He certainly wasn't known for his brains, nor any athletic ability, as proved when I used to lap him on the mile run.  But anywho, as we went to high school Luke and I were buddies.  Now not the "buddies" that he and Sparky are, that is the type of "buddies" that take showers together.  Oh no, Luke and I were just regular buddies.  In the halls of MHS, he showed me the ropes on picking up ladies, while I taught him a thing or two in the classroom ... and in the gym.
Then at our respective institutions...well mine was respected...the LOB and the Toddzilla18 hit the cyber waves.  He used to express his opinions on meteorology, while I expressed mine about how he kept his roommate Betillio a secret.   We would come home on the summers and cruise the strip, hang out in the basement, or chase thunderstorms.
But our buddyship, like friendship, was questioned.  Oh yes, there were some doubts.  For instance, while Luke praises the Breeze, he once stole the Breeze.  And once when I was on an amazing high about Sweet Corn Festival teen dances and life, Luke started punching me.  And though Luke taught me how to pick up ladies, when those rare successes come along there Luke is waiting in the tall grass to steal 'em away.  It hasn't always been smooth sailing for the Luke and his mentor the Toddfather.
However, the years have shown that while Luke may steal my girls and wishes he had sharp vehicles like me, we are still good buddies.  No, not taking showers together...yet.   Many visits to the B/N including an "Operation Zilla", a trip to Kentucky and Minnesota, colorful comments about colorful drinks and more have strengthened our BUDDYship to levels beyond milk and cheerios, coffee and cream, and sweet corn and butter.
So Luke, this post is for you.  We are buddies.   Buddies chase storms together and buddies drink Raz together.  If you are a buddy of mine, then you're a buddy of Luke's.  He's just that type of guy!

Hey Luke ... 317 days!!!

MTF

Great blog, it's an honor to be mentioned on a website that combines weather with corn.

I, too, have decided to check Todd's blog more regularly. Seeing as how Todd and I are also good buddies but rarely get a chance to talk that often, perhaps this blog is the ideal outlet to keep up with Todd's busy job and lifestyle. However, I now question my decision seeing as how an entire blog entry was dedicated to O'Brien. What a complete waste of time, thought, and key punching. Now mind you, I lived with the O'B for 3 out of 4 years at my time at ISU, and if there is anyone who deserves a blog entry less, it's him. Perhaps I can start my own blog dedicated to the sole aim of destroying O'Brien. I'm in high hopes that you will write blogs concerning more important topics in the future Todd, and not concerning less fortunate and let's face it, troubled individuals.
