Cleaning the Cell
All,
For those of you who have known for a while I am not the brightest crayon in the box, no need to read any further. For those who had confidence in me, this will burst that bubble. Adding to what had already been a "great" week, on Wednesday evening, my cell phone somehow ended up in the washer. By "somehow", I mean I tossed my wonderful portable piece of technology, housing everything from digits of all of you, to pictures when my camera wasn't around, to hilarious and inspirational text messages I have kept, to home grown ring tones that included "Heaven is a Place on Earth" and "My Town", to a Mendota water tower background, to a countdown to the Sweet Corn Festival (which would be at 35 days today). Yes, all that nostalgic material went for the ride in my soap and Eden Prairie water. And the thing is, I knew it within minutes. Nothing like reaching your hand into the soapy water to pull out your hand held contact to the world. And after drying it off, all I hoped for was five more minutes ... just to see that background one more time. But no, it was done. Despite what many may think, I was not even that mad about my blunder. Whether it had been the week or the fact I was on midnight shifts and my thought process isn't all there (obviously), I couldn't help but chuckle! Chad would agree, it was a good time to put on a little Montgomery Gentry. Maybe not 'My Town', or 'Something to Be Proud Of' considering my monumental blunder, but 'Lucky Man' hit the spot pretty well.
Not wanting to get a new cell phone too quickly without doing some research (I know, loser) I busted out my original cell, circa Feb '05 - Feb '07. The chip from my submarine phone still surprisingly worked, and I should be in business through the next few days. I don't know necessarily about text messages, but I do think I have the voicemails working properly. The cell doesn't hold a charge very long though. The best news is, I should have everyone's number, which is the most booyah to me.
So as I shop for a new phone, maybe I should use this foolish move as a chance to get something sweeeet, as Napoleon Dynamite would say. Can't help but notice the iphone 2 comes out July 11? Or maybe a BlackBerry? I may have to tap into the MTF contingency fund ... aka the SCF fund ... so maybe I should wait. I mean really, a cell phone or a Lion's Club corn dog??? No match.
Enjoy the Fireworks from the 'Sota to the 'Dota!

P.S. Late text message on that phone received was from Bobby, which is fitting considering he probably text me more than anyone. The Chicago Bears fanatic was venting his opinion on Brett Favre's potential comeback. Maybe because that message was so filthy I considered "washing my phone"? Ha!

Nice job there Todd. I was actually thinking of getting a weather update this past weekend, since I headed back up to the lake, this time with the lady friend.
Anywho, the phone situation is a vital one. I for one am a bit biased, seeing that I LOVE my Blackberry. Plans are a bit expensive, as they are for the iPhone (around $100), but very well worth it.
PS-Nice work on the SCF email.

I think the error is due to a virus and disabling the firewall in that case will not be an intelligent thing to do.
