Tennessee Trip
All,
Quick entry here. Need to head to bed. Hope everyone is enjoying their October thus far! Mine has been off to a fairly decent start, namely a great trip home and on to Tennessee, and then back again. Visited the sis at NIU, which was really nice. Had a fire drill almost immediately upon my arrival, reminding me of the Lincoln Hall days. Went to Mendota Homecoming Parade Friday afternoon. All I realized there was that I was ancient. Dinner at the Village Tavern with the guys was great! Well outside of the poor waitress and Mengler's story time. Trip to Tennessee and back, ridiculous! Game was fantastic, even with the close Huskie loss. Saw some dismal offense and some stellar defense. Mengler, thanks for driving. Guider, I don't know how we survived, namely that last half hour. But we did and it was booyah!
If you would like to see the pictures, let me know and I will send you the link. Here's a couple classics though:

That's it for now. Thanks Mengler, Guider, Thorsen, Quinns, Smiley, Slim, Luke, and 'Vis. And Spark too, even though I couldn't meet ya at the Moose this time around big guy. Mammen's wedding though, save me a dance. I know Luke has you booked most of the night.

Enjoyed the pictures! The Illini pants one was the best. Sorry the Huskies lost.

It is not heroin or cocaine that makes one an addict, it is the need to escape from a harsh reality. There are more television addicts, more baseball and football addicts, more movie addicts, and certainly more alcohol addicts in this country than there are narcotics addicts.

Experience does not err. Only your judgments err by expecting from her what is not in her power.

The other writer who had a very important early influence on me when I was about 17 was C.S. Lewis.
