A Year and a Half of sweetcornforecast.com
Breezers and VIPers,
Well a week delayed, but fitting because sweetcornforecast.com is celebrating 18 months now! There's been a bit of a surge of V.I.P.s, thanks in part to the Facebook thing. But, the original VIPs are the ones I want to give a shoutout to, as we look back now at the top 15 users of their V.I.P. forecasts since August of '07.
First off, thanks to all of you! Congrats Wuj! Some additional FAQ's, some of which I've already received:
Why top 15 instead of top 10?
For one, I would get a nasty e-mail from Vujea if he didn't get some recognition. I also wanted to show how lovebirds Spark and Lucas have sadly fallen and make an example of them. And it just shows who is close to top ten!
Married couples together? What?!
That's right. Listen a little carefully at your next wedding and you will hear the preacher quickly throw that in at the altar. While it may be surprising that a fairly long time single guy such as myself would give credit to couples, many a wedding in 2008 brought out my lighter side (as if the Razz hadn't) and believe that husbands and wives should share a mutual forecast.
Why not show the number of visits?
Because it is not 100% accurate. Visits can occur not necessarily by the V.I.P.. Say some other V.I.P. was visiting you and checked your forecast to see the weather there. And there are other examples. Let's just say, Wuj has a commanding lead at #1, while #2-#5 are within range, #6-#9 are grouped and Vujea you are inches away from top ten.
Who is the biggest disappointment?
Well there are several notables not in the top 15. These include Derek, Jimmy, Holzner, Foxy, Miles, and Roop. Jimmy has made an impressive climb though and I expect the Nesburtt to make top 15 in the coming year. Miles, due to the fact you are not even in the top 100 and because of many recommendations from some of the top 15, you are on V.I.P. probation the next six months.
Well that's a wrap. Again, active weather this week. Icefor northern Minnesota into tonight with thunderstorms from southern Minnesota to Illinois. Then potential heavy rains on Wednesday into Thursday combined with the snow melt in Illinois may lead to flooding problems by late in the week. Eye to the sky.
Thanks to all the V.I.P. users from the 'Sota to the Chambana to the Peoria to the 'burg and to the 'Dota, mmmbooyah!

The last week I was committed for sure, I had a few non-VIP's who wanted to know the Burg weather and I showed them via my VIP page...
Anyways, in the immortal words of Joe Novak (when he let me know what NIU was going to do at tOSU), "Im going to make some noise regarding the top 5 next time"

Happy to see that I cracked into the top 11. Not happy to hear about July 25...it's FIVE MONTHS away. You gotta change your original plans. This is the biggest event in 2009, you won't want to miss it.

Mengler's jump into the top 10 might be a bigger scandal then A-Rod's steroids.
Agree with Vujea. 7-25-09 will be the 2nd straight year that a Michigan event out ranks the SCF.

I'm not sure about this Hubbard Lake nonsense... never heard of it.
Judging by the Top 15 results above though it sounds like Todd's making the right decision.
Seriously though, details on Hubbard Lake?

Haha ... Hubbard Lake is a lake in northern lower Michigan where Guider's amazing family has a cabin. It's also where of all weekends in the summer, these idiots are set on going up there. They can reconsider though, as it is still in the planning state. I suppose you guys want us to bring Sparky too, huh?

That weekend is locked up. Mengler's love and desire to have the WNBA overtake the NFL in terms of popularity only gives him 2 weekends off in the summer.

I think Niles deserves more than a 6 month suspension. Im thinking more like a year long ban, or possibly even a lifetime ban. Im sure it wont take long to get the petition signed to have his permanent ban put into place.

That's enough talk about Miles/Niles.

Pleasantly suprised, and really I didnt even lose a spot, #2 is two damn people! This is an individual thing!

Yes! I made the top 15! I knew all that obsessive SCF weather checking would pay off in some way.

I was a top 10'er prior to becoming part of Team Mammen. Now I'm carrying Chad's weight with SCF.com visits.

It's been over 2 weeks since the last update. I'm getting anxious, I need my weather fix. Is this still an active blog?
