Active Weather Continuing in the South; Dry Out in the 'Sota

Breezers,
Well getting back to the Breeze here slowly but surely.  My hope to post daily were thrown out with Rapid City being more of a Slow City.  But that's all good.  Weatherwise a ton going on, and mainly in the south still.  Severe weather and heavy rains continue to pummel the southern tier states.  The second EF-4 tornado of the year occurred on Friday in Murfreesboro, TN.  This twister was a long-lived monster.  A map of the path and pics of the damage can be found here:  http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ohx/surveys/ss041009_good_friday.php  These tornadoes were not overly far from the Master's tournament.  They finished Friday just in time as severe weather would roll in after dusk.  Severe weather on Thursday/Friday  tore up everything from eastern Oklahoma to the Carolinas.  Up to seventy tornadoes potentially occurred on those two days alone.  Behind that system, wildfires broke out across TX and OK in very dry air and strong winds. These even got into outlying areas of Oklahoma City.  The South cannot win, as Easter Sunday and yesterday more storms ravaged that area, with ample rainfall along the Gulf Coast.  One month rainfall totals of nearly two feet have been seen in some communities.
While IL saw a damp cold day yesterday, MN has had a stretch of beautiful weather.  The one downside with this is we have dried out from a lot of our snow melt.  Such dry conditions have led to dry fuels for fires and awareness has been raised.  Western and northern WI are more vulnerable at this time as they have been in a drought through the winter.
Next week brings Severe Weather Awareness Week to Minnesota and Wisconsin.  Time to ensure preparedness for the 'naders.  At work we have been shifting into severe weather/warm season operations gradually over the past month which has kept things overly busy.  It's good though, as I have yet to meet anyone who is not ready for this summer.  What a winter!  Keep this in mind for those of you who let me hear it yesterday about the 40s and rain.  Remember December-Feburary?  That's what I thought.  : )
Twinkies 3-5, off to a bit of a slow start.  I thank the White Sox fans for a couple lovely texts the past few days.  Good friend and avid Breeze poster Mengler was at one of the games.  Sit next to Morneau's girlfriend BobbyO?
The blog "The Gust" ... Garbage.  Take out the cyber trash somebody...please.  Didn't say it was not humorous for a second or two, but we need some science Guider.  Stick to your corporate e-mails.  You are meant  for Mengler and Vujea as your audience and no one more, well maybe a Heitz now and then.  And 'Vis, highly disappointed in your liking of such blasthamy.  It's weak sauce.  No tmuch better than if Luke or Miles had a blog.  Scary thought.

Rushmore from a different angle

Coworker Tom and I goofing off during lunch.  Notice all the snow had been removed by truck from downtown!

Good luck at your concert tonight Heather!  Congrats now to LITTLE Full also engaged!  And of course, Kelli and Eric!  The whole world is getting married in 2010!!!  Mengler?  Slim?  SPARKY?!

From the 'Sota to the 'Dota,
MTF
